Developing company culture: Turning Strategy into Action. How your culture can drive your business performance.

Developing company culture can change your business' performance. Are your leaders and workers dedicated and determined to achieving results for your company? Follow these steps to create a high-performance culture in your workplace.

What is a high performance culture?

Simply put, it is a culture in which a employers and workers focus all their efforts on developing company culture and consequently improving the results of a company. A performance culture drives greater business success and bigger profits. This type of culture also helps develop, engage, and retain your workers for longer periods.

What steps should you take to build a high-performance culture in your workplace?

1. Pick behavioural changes that will influence your results

Once you have determined the behavioural changes that will help boost your business performance, communicate these clearly to your employees. This way, everyone will be on the same page and understand why and how to change their behaviours.

2. Reframe the mindsets of your employees

Several factors can affect mindsets and behaviours. “Articulating a compelling change story; leadership role modelling; skill building; and formal changes to processes, systems, and incentives,” according to McKinsey & Company. Teach your leaders how to create the necessary processes and model the right behaviours and mindsets to motivate your employees and drive better results.

3. Developing Company Culture from the bottom up

Often cultural changes start at the top and work their way down. Instead of focusing on executives and managers, try implementing a platform for cultural change from the bottom up. You will get more buy in this way.

4. Track and communicate key wins

As highlighted by the e-book A Results-Oriented Culture – You Can’t Manage What You Don’t Measure, ensure that you set specific, measurable goals and objectives each year to achieve your desired culture. According to an article from Forbes, high performers tend to thrive on a multitude of measurements and daily feedback.

5. Hire high achievers

When interviewing individuals for different positions, be sure to focus on hiring high achievers who will already have the personal attributes to help your company grow and succeed.

6. Encourage experimentation

Encouraging experimentation allows your employees to generate and employ new ideas to bring in more customers and higher profit.

7. Implement the right technology

At iLearn, we have partnered with GWork to help you implement the right technology. The “G” in GWork helps you to define what “Genius” work looks like and then implements the technology to help you achieve it. Click here to learn more or give us a call.
