The purpose of this part-qualification is to prepare learners to operate as Quality Inspectors. A Quality Inspector performs measurements using precision and other instruments/resources and compares product/services against set standards to assess any variation to ensure compliance with specifications.
They also collect information and maintain records of inspections, prepare lists of defects/deviations and interact with other departments to ensure compliance.
A qualified learner will be able to:

  • Interpret customer and other specifications, national and international standards and applicable legislation.
  • Inspect and verify input, resources and output for conformance against standards and specifications and report non-conformances.
  • Collect, record, summarise and report quality information.

The programme is intended for people who either have an interest in Quality Assurance or individuals that already work in the Quality Assurance industry as Quality Controller/ Inspectors.
The qualification is a steppingstone in the career path of quality management. Qualified Quality Inspectors can be employed as Quality Controllers and progress to become Quality Assurers, Technical Quality Specialists and Quality Managers and find occupations in Quality Systems and Processes in various sectors, such as services, hospitality, health, manufacturing, construction, information technology, etc.
