What is Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal system used to recognise previous learning for working adults. The assessment process is measured through extensive workplace experience including formal and informal learning. It is a process that is obtained through formal assessment which results in awarding of credits against the nationally recognized qualification. The process is mainly for candidates who do not meet the formal minimum entry requirements for a qualification, however they have all the skills and knowledge required through work experience.

In order to apply for RPL, the candidate has to be 23 years of age or older with at least three years' current, relevant working experience in the applicable field of study/sector.
