The programme is designed to enable learners to use Computer Technology Principles. The learners will acquire skills and knowledge on how to create multimedia computer applications with scripting, they will also learn how to develop software for the internet as well as testing IT systems against given specifications.

The learner must be competent in Mathematics, Communication and Computer Skills at NQF Level 3.

Demonstrate an understanding of creating multimedia/web-based computer applications with scripting NQF 4 (6 credits)

  • Plan the use of a multimedia/web-based authoring computer application with scripting
  • Design a multimedia/web-based computer application
  • Identify and save text, graphic elements and animation
  • Create multimedia/web-based computer application scripts
  • Assemble a multimedia/web-based application including scripts

Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of developing software for the internet NQF 4 (3 credits)

  • Explain the network issues related to Internet applications
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different user interface methods used for Internet applications
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the implications of copyright, ownership and royalties
  • Explain version control and security issues related to Internet Applications

Demonstrate an understanding of testing IT systems against given specifications NQF 4 (6 credits)

  • Select an appropriate test procedure for the IT Systems to be tested
  • Apply the test procedure to the IT Systems to be tested
  • Collect and record data from tests
  • Prepare the testing to ensure the given specifications will be addressed
